The life and times of Pete Herman, a diminutive former shoeshine boy turned world champion boxer, who is forgotten by history. Born Peter Gulotta, of Sicilian-immigrant parents, in New Orleans in 1896. He boxed under the name Pete “Kid” Herman. He fought his way to the top of the boxing world as the first two-time bantamweight world champion gaining fame and fortune. Blinded by ring injuries, Pete retired from boxing to operate a nightclub and bordello in the French Quarter for over 40 years until is death in 1973.
